Dance&Connect lists partner-dance parties and schools. You can use the app and this website without telling us who you are.

No accounts, no tracking

There are no accounts: you never sign up, log in or give us your name or email. The app and this website have no advertising, don’t track you across other apps or sites, and don’t set cookies to follow you. This website has no analytics. The app counts how it’s used, without knowing who you are, as described below.

“Is this right?” votes

On a party or school page you can tap thumbs-up or thumbs-down to tell us whether the details are right. The first time you vote, the app quietly creates a random, anonymous ID and keeps it on your phone (in its secure storage), so each phone counts once per listing. Your votes are stored with that ID and nothing else: no name, no email, no contact details. Vote counts are never shown, and a listing with enough “wrong” votes is hidden until we’ve checked it. Like the rest of our database, the ID and votes sit with Supabase, whose logs also record the IP address of each request (see “Server logs”). Deleting the app removes the ID from Android phones; on iPhone it can stay in the phone’s secure storage until the phone is reset.

Analytics

The app counts how it’s used through PostHog, an analytics service: for example, which cities and parties are opened, and taps on map, ticket and Instagram links. The city is the one the app is showing, which may be the one nearest you (see “Nearest city”), never your position. Each count also carries basic technical details: your phone’s operating system, that it’s a phone, and the app’s version and build, so we can tell iPhone from Android and spot a broken release.

Analytics keeps no identifier on your phone. It uses a random ID that exists only while the app is running, so counts from one session aren’t linked to the next time you start the app. It is separate from the voting ID above, and we don’t combine the two. Your IP address isn’t kept, and no position is sent: only the city the app is showing. Nothing you type is sent. We don’t sell this data, and it isn’t used for ads.

Nearest city

So the app can open on the city nearest you, it asks this website for your rough position once each time it starts. Our hosting provider, Vercel, works it out from your connection’s IP address; we round it to about 10 km and send it back with your country. Your phone uses it only to pick the nearest city and to show how far away it is in the city picker. We don’t store it, log it or send it to analytics, and the app never asks for your phone’s location. A city you choose yourself always stays. Vercel’s standard request logs still apply (see “Server logs”).

“Send us a link”

If you send us a link to a party or school, we store the link, the note you add (if any), the language your app is set to, the city and the time it was sent. It isn’t linked to your name, your device or any account. Please don’t put personal details in the note. Only our team reads submissions; the app can send them but can’t read them back.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting and database providers (Vercel and Supabase) keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and time of request, for a limited period, to run and secure the service. We don’t use them to identify or profile anyone.

Listings and images

Party and school details come from what organizers publish themselves. Flyers and logos are the organizers’ own promotional material, shown with credit and a link to the original post. If you’re an organizer and want something corrected or removed, write to us and we’ll remove it.
